The blurriest photo you’ll ever see of Dave Chappelle
C & I saw Dave Chappelle in DC last night at the Warner Theater. In this picture what you’re not seeing is the Howard University marching band that came up on stage at the end of the show to sing happy birthday to Dave C. He turned 33 and celebrated it by being one funny mothereffer to his hometown crowd.
As cameras weren’t allowed, this was taken from C’s cellphone.
I’m not sure what I was in for, but the show far exceeded expectations.
He talked about his “going away to Africa” and the $50 million he walked away from because, well, essentially he’s not trying to ess “the man’s” ‘D’ if you catch my meaning. My respect for him grew dramatically to hear his side of things — and to see what he’s accomplished by the time he’s 33 is quite impressive.
He did A LOT of his distinctive “white man voice” — loved it. Comedy gold.
A DC based comedian opened the show with some funny, adolescent jokes and then brought out “DJ Kool” — you may know him as the “Let Me Clear My Throat” guy — ( the song that was popular around spring break ‘96 or so — man that guy needs a new single).
