Ed B’s Hail Storm Story

This comes from my brother-in-law Ed in NH:

I thought I’d share the images from that bad hail storm we had a few days ago. I’m not sure if it made national news but it was the worst we have had in this area for a very long time. I was driving into Exeter, NH for a job and hit the start of the hail. That forced me to pull over and wait it out under an oak tree. The hail got to over an inch in size and I feared my windshield would break. It was a wild ten minutes of torn branches and leaves and ice littering the streets.

When it was done I felt fortunate and moved on. Much to my surprise, just within the next few miles ahead, the damage was much worse — broken windows, destroyed gardens (and garden center), nearly every car damaged with dents and broken windshields, and flooding from clogged drains. It looked like a warzone with a stunned public wandering aimlessly and almsot everyone calling someone on a cell phone. The sad part was that some house windows that had been around for over 250 years were done in by this storm. A car dealership had a total loss, the Walgreens had a collapsed roof, the lot of workers cars at the Sylvania plant looked like a junk yard. It was surreal driving through immediately after all this. When I got to our job site, I was able to get a picture of the largest hail I saw (see photo), a flattened disc measuring 2 3/4 inches.

Thought I would share that with you.
