Entertainment etc.
I’m a bit deflated with Disney “Pixar” purchase — as much as I enjoyed Disney World, Epcot, etc as a little Marty, a little part of me wanted to see Pixar eventually buy Disney out… oh well. Let the Disney regime continue… their latest joint venture “Cars” is expected to be the moneymaker of the year.
Megan Mullally is getting her own talk show “The Megan Mullally Show” this fall. I predict it to last at least six successful seasons… much like the Chevy Chase show did… in an alternate universe.
Stewie from the Family Guy is also getting his own talk show — but this one’s kind of a fake promotional thing, as it’s only based the Internet.
The Arctic Monkeys are well no their way to becoming the US’s next big indie-rock import…as soon as they go to the “Peach Pit” or “The Max” or whatever the OC’s equivalent is, then it’s all over. The band’s album, “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not,” sold 118,501 copies within 24 hours of its release Monday in the UK, more than the rest of the top 20 album chart combined. If sales hold up, it will become Britain’s fastest-selling debut, surpassing the 306,631 copies sold by Hear’Say’s “Popstars” in 2001. But then again, does anyone in the US know who the hell Hear’Say’s “Popstars” was? So I could be totally wrong — but whatev.
So this guy named Colin has a new Intel-chip Macbook shipping to him on February 15 and he told his boss it’d replace his IBM Desktop computer because he could get it to boot Windows XP AND Mac OSX — something he doesn’t know how to do, but certain that somewhere out there can help. He started a website to gather a pot of money to the first person who could accomplish this for him at winxponmac.com — martyz.com has contributed $5 to the historic cause. The last time I saw the pot, it was at around $200 — it has since grown to over $6000.
