Schmock to the Future
There was a quick scene in Monday’s “Arrested Development” that was bugging the hell out of me for about 6 minutes last night — where I couldn’t place an actor — the scene was in a British pub and the bartender looked so freakin’ familiar..then these lines popped into my head:
Ferris: Are you suggesting that I’m not who I say I am?
Maitre D’: I’m suggesting that you leave before I have to get snooty.
Ferris: Snooty?
Maitre D’: Snotty.
Ferris: Snotty?
The actor Johnathan Schmock was the one who played the bartender in last night’s ep and I hadn’t seen him in anything in 19 years. 19 freakin’ years.
There’s another “Deep Impact”-esque casting call that was announced in the Washington Post on Sunday — an open-casting call begins at 10am in DC this Saturday for the “The Visiting” (previously titled “Invasion”). The movie is a remake of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” … if past remakes demonstrate anything, it’s that Nicole Kidman should not be in them. (Bewitched, The Stepford Wives)…
I am forgoing this waste of time to concentrate on three other already planned activities….
1. The Arlington County Civitan Club Flea Market and Community Garage Sale. The Arlington Civitan Club hosts a flea maket the first Saturday of every month from 5 a.m.-1 p.m. between April and November. The event is at the Arlington County Parking Garage on N. 15th St. Call 703-228-3314.
If you like ’stuff’ — this is the place to be… lots and lots and lots of stuff. Last time I bought a ‘45 from 1969 with Hugh Downs narrating man’s first landing on the moon…for $5.
2. Crafty Bastards:
The Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair is an exhibition and sale of handmade arts & crafts from local artists in the DC Metro area presented by the Washington City Paper Classifieds. It is free to attend and open to the public. The fair will be all day, outdoors, and will offer goods for sale, food, entertainment and fun, fun, fun!
3. Jeffrey Ross @ Lisner Auditorium
Everytime I catch Jeffrey Ross on a roast or doing stand-up, I get 78% more belly laughs than any other comedian. That’s 78% — he is freakin’ funny. Carrie saw him a long time ago hosting the college talent show “Mastercard Acts” and to this day still quotes from his act.
Coming to the Black Cat on Tuesday, October 18 — “Clap Your Hands Say Yeah” — a very cool self-made band of whom I’ve heard like 3 songs from Mike D. via Mike A. and just read about them in Rolling Stone — and who will be playing at Irving Plaza on New Year’s Eve in NYC.
Also, in the latest Rolling Stone they feature some pics of Kristin Cavalari (Laguna Beach) and Evangline Lilly (Lost) — who both photograph very well. Very well.
On the same hormonal level, an article talks about party-photographer who’s started “lastnightsparty.com“, a photo-mentary of exactly that: last night’s party. (NSFW - notsafeforwork)
