try on pants - get free music

Beginning August 8 and going through August 31, if you try on a pair of new Gap jeans you get a free iTunes download — don’t have to buy — just try them on! It’s the Gap’s “Find Your Favorite Fit” promotion. So if you like pants AND music, this is perfect for you.

Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich) is going to satellite radio — which one is he going to? Sirius — of course. Meh. As is Joel & Ethan Cohen — both have plays with foley artists, who provide sound effects, an orchestra and actors on stage reading their scripts, but no props, costumes or sets. Kaufman’s play, “Hope Leaves the Theater” stars Peter Dinklage, Meryl Streep & Hope Davis.

The plays were performed in New York & London, and will air Sept. 2-5 on Sirius’ Talk Central Channel 148.

Ok.. so Sirius gets some points.. feh.

Ricky Gervais’ show “Extras” is coming to HBO in September. The thing that’s annoying about it , is that it’s another showbiz related HBO show… “Curb your enthusiasm… then Entourage .. then ‘the comeback’… oofah loofah…”I don’t Wanna SEE That!”, says Aunt Sassy from the background…. but according to Gervais though, Hollywood “really is just a backdrop, rather like The Office wasn’t really about selling paper.”

(Thank you USA Today for those last two news bits)

Blondie & Dagwood are about to celebrate their 75th anniversary… and speaking of comics that people don’t read.. Garfield still likes napping and lasagna — seriously.. how is Garfield still around? And did anyone see the “Garfield” movie? Did anyone KNOW there was a “Garfield” movie..

uh oh. i’ve hit a nerve. So D, you’re the one Garfield fan.

did you see the one where he ran out of lasagna? wasn’t that sad?
or the one where Jon had a horrible date.. again. Oh that Jon..

I saw the first episode of Extras on BBC when I was in England last week. It wasn’t half as funny as the office (how could it be?) and the celebrity cameos that are supposed to be an ongoing gimic came across as really forced and awful.

And how about that Odie? Isn’t it hilarious when Garfield makes fun of him?

On an episode of The Daily Show, John Stewart, whom I normally idolize, way really laying into Jennifer Love Hewett, who is still hot, about the new “Garfield” movie. Jennifer, non-plussed replied, “Well, John, it is rated G, so it is for kids, many who were not born when Garfield was big in the 80’s.” So, snap to you, MZ. Rated G is not for you and me. Hollywood is taking care of us with gems like “Stealth” and “Dukes of Hazard.”

Mike C - excellent Spy Report re: ‘Extras’… although I am disappointed with the fact that it sucks.. i had high hopes. Odie cracks my ass up - every. time.

Sean - “Stealth” & “Dukes of Hazzard” don’t look like gems. Unless by gems you mean doody — in which case they do.

Now THAT pisses me off that they ruined Dukes of Hazzard — I can go with Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke — but use the director of “Super Troopers?” …and Stifler as Bo Duke? WTF?

things that garfield does not enjoy: 1. Mondays. 2. Spiders

I’m still optimistic on the Extras. I’m not optimistic on the Dukes of Hazzard, but am optimistic for Steve C. in “The 40 Year Old Virgin” comes out August 12th.

Really Marty?? We can start this…..why don’t you go get some oreos and milk, i hear quantam leap is back on. And it’s a new plot, he goes back in time and fixes something…gasp!

    oh no she dih int.

First off, it was Ho-Hos and milk. Not Oreos.
Secondly, Quantum Leap was a very entertaining show when I was 12.

I don’t disagree Garfield wasn’t funny. I found him to be hilarious twenty years ago! Around the time when that guy who made the noises in the “Police Academy” movies was equally as entertaining to 7 year olds.

In conclusion, Garfield needs to choke on some lasagna and Odie needs to be put down. I’d read that comic strip.
