Last night I checked out R. Kelly’s “mini-video series” on VH1, “Trapped in a Closet” — it’s a series of five (5) music videos that are built like an old-skool radio drama — and it’s completely narrated/sung/rapped by him. It’s pretty entertaining…so check it out on VH1 while it’s still on — it’s also included on a DVD with his new album. In addition, he has a song on his album called “Sex Weed”, in which according to VH1 news “he compares making love to his girl to smoking the stickiest of the icky.”
Oh R. — you rascal.
In unrelated boy scout news, 4 troop leaders from Alaska died in a freak accident in Bowling Green, Virginia.
The details are sketchy, but according to the Post an overhead power line may have come into contact with a support pole for a tent. Out of respect, I’ll hold off on an inappropriate merit badge joke.
This morning, I was checking out my custom-home page at Google (make your own at www.google.com/ig) and noticed they improved it significantly — you can now add any news item that has an RSS feed and swap around windows — pretty f’ing sweet job, Google.. keep it up.
I watched with Chef Gordoni the second-to-last episode of Hell’s Kitchen last night — the meal we prepared for the viewing was a caramelized-onion-apple puree served over parsley-encrusted porkchops with asparagus — planned for dessert was a dynamite napoleon, but the time available was not ample, so my banana bread with Haagen-Daz made do just fine…
The next DARPA Grand Challenge is just a few months away and there are already some semi-finalists qualified for the main race (the DARPA Grand Challenge is a DoD sponsored-event where teams from around the country compete to build a vehicle that can travel a 140 mile course through the desert in under 10 hours by itself — with no human driver or remote control) — one particular entry is a VW Touareg from Team Banzai that is run by Apple’s OS X on a cluster of minis — be sure to check out the pics. I would seriously love to check that out. If someone can sponsor me to just watch the event, I’m accepting applications now. They have an open-source forum where they post pics of the actual software driving the car — it’s down now, but I’ll post the link up when it’s back online.
