Weekend recap + rooms for rent

target=_blank>Rod Roddy. Come on down. You’re our next contestant on
‘Wheel of Unfortune’.
He was actually the announcer on
Price Is Right…, but it’s too early in the AM to
think of one-liners. If someone can one-up me, please do.

There’s been some confusion regarding the music selections
I’ve posted. I haven’t actually MADE or mixed any of the music
listed.. .. they’re just samples of music I’ve been listening
to recently, with martyz.com radio-esque taglines I threw
in.
You can find the songs at your local or online
music retailer.

My roommates are leaving me. :(  Two
bedrooms are becoming availlable at my house beginning December 1.
If someone knows of someone who wants to live in a
cool Rambler in Fairfax let me know:

Thanks to Laura Dec of decla.com for the
pop-up window code. Regarding the sad loss of Rod Roddy, she
eulogized “The Price Is Wrong and Then You Die.”

Over 500,000 acres, target=_blank>nearly 800 square miles have burnt to a crisp
in California. That’s more than twice the amount of
land in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens & Staten
Island combined. For you locals, it’s the equivalent
of Loudoun County, Fairfax County, Arlington County and the
Disctrict of Columbia burning down.

Meredith, who lives close by in Santa Monica,
but safely out of evacuation range reports “ash everywhere” and
the worst air quality in LA history. Be
safe!

October 26, Zap 3

I’m testing a suggestion by Mr. Muppethouse
himself, Ryan. He recommended putting some music picks/what I’m
listening to up in this piece. I went a step further
and ’produced’ the tracks a smidge, a la my DJ
days. I’m a bit against offering music completely for free
on here, so located in the upper right, are some snippets
— fresh tracks, if you will — of what I’ve
been listening to recently. Enjoy!

If you haven’t
had my target=_blank>mom’s Polish-style vegetable soup, you haven’t had
vegetable soup. It’s good. And by good, I mean unworldly. I was
fortunate enough to have some on Friday AND this evening with
my target=_blank>sister & brother-in-law who’re in town from
New Hampshire.

Saturday, I saw a mediocre documentary on
freakshows & sideshows called ‘Traveling Sideshow: Shocked
& Amazed’  at the new AFI
Silver
in Silver Spring. Nice theatre. Shitty movie. target=_blank>The post-show sword swallower made handing
over $8.50 a little easier to um,
swallow.

Afterward, Mr. & Mrs. Muppethouse and I
went to meet up with their friends at Dave & Buster’s. It turned
out that friends of their friends are also my friends. Very random.
Small world. Who’d a thunk? How about that.

Since we’re such
great people, Dave & Buster’s sponsored our game-playing for the
evening, no charge.  Thanks Dave. Thanks
Buster.

I
got a mug out of it.
As it’s getting cold, I’ll be using it
for tea & hot cocoa. Cinnamon & apple tea is a
particular fave as is Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa Mix (don’t ever buy the
Swiss Miss that includes the marshmallows — you should buy those
separately) With a little pinch of cinnamon & nutmeg plus a
dab of Cool Whip you’ve got yourself a fine, healthy beverage
for a cold morning.
